ISO 18001 Certification
We are proud to announce that Genesis has achieved certification under BS OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety standards. This represents a significant achievement in managing our processes and our overall commitment to quality improvement and safety standards.
On a practical level, BS OHSAS 18001 means we have adopted a pro-active approach to risk assessment and risk management systems. It is the only certification of its kind that is recognized worldwide.
Since 2005 Genesis Recycling Ltd. has proudly been certified as an ISO9001:2008 (QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS) and ISO 14001:2004 (ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM) company. This demonstrates our commitment to environmental excellence and best practices in every aspect of our business.
We are most proud of our employee teams who have taken these certifications to heart and put them to work every day. We couldn’t do it without you!
New Genesis Space Nearing Readiness
After power upgrades, office construction and about an acre of drywall, our new plant is almost ready for moving in. The space itself is almost 28,000 square feet, which will give us ample room to store and process all of our resource recovery under one roof. We will also be adding new processing equipment to handle increased volumes under new stewardship plans for appliances and the ongoing ESABC e-waste program. We’ll keep you posted on the official ribbon-cutting. Please email us if you would like to book a tour.
New Plastic Cold Compactor recycles styrofoam into high-quality polystyrene. No sweat.
Using simple mechanical shredding and pure compression, our new polystyrene recycling machine increases both efficiency and end product quality. Because it does not use heat, the compressed polystyrene 'bricks' produced have fewer impurities and are a more consistent size and dimension for shipping.
Genesis customer London Drugs recently produced a video featuring our Cold Compactor for their What's the Green Deal' program, co-starring Genesis President Bruce Shore.

London Drugs reduces garbage 66% with Genesis waste stewardship.
When London Drugs went looking for a recycling solution to handle a wide variety of materials from their 73 stores, they did their homework. With more and more scrutiny being leveled at recyclers that simply ship their waste offshore, VP Clint Mahlman knew he needed a transparent, local recycling provider he could trust. Genesis came to the table with a comprehensive Waste Stewardhip Plan that includes e-waste, small appliances, batteries, Styrofoam recycling and secure data destruction. All electronics waste and appliances are disassembled at Genesis Recycling in Aldergrove, BC. No machines are shipped to dumping grounds offshore, or out of province.

London Drugs’ results are inspiring.
“Our What's the Green Deal return-to-retail program is a unique, made in BC solution to reducing impact on landfills.” Mahlman says. “Our Stryofoam recycling alone has prevented the equivalent of more than 40 full semi-trailers being sent to landfill. Since beginning our waste control initiatives, we have reduced our per-store waste pickups by an average of 66%, and in the past 3 years we have diverted over 1 million pounds of garbage from the landfill.”
If every major retailer operating in BC offered similar waste management and recycling options for customers as London Drugs, just imagine the difference that could be made.
