Responsibility

Know where every kilo goes.
Genesis Recycling audits all of our incoming and outgoing material. We strive for zero waste – an unwavering focus you can rely on for security, risk management and peace of mind. Your customized Waste Stewardship Plan includes reporting on waste recovery rates and efficiency for all materials. It’s a benchmark we continually strive to improve, and a track record you can proudly share with your customers, investors and employees.

What happens to the materials?

1. All products are physically dismantled at our plant. No electronics or machinery are shipped whole to offshore recyclers. Materials are separated and graded on site into one of over 50 commodity types, such as copper, aluminum, mixed plastics, wire, steel, etc.

2. Commodity types are collected and sent to our downstream partners who specialize in processing particular categories of material. We carefully select our downstream partners based on their processes, capacity and environmental standards.

3. The refined commodity is sold to manufacturers to produce new products. The energy savings from using recycled materials vs. new virgin commodities is significant:

Recycled aluminum uses 95% less energy.*
Recycled glass uses 40% less energy.*
Recycled HDPE plastic uses 77% less energy*
